Uniqlo to open new store at Bluewater

Japanese fashion retailer Uniqlo has exchanged contracts on a new store at Bluewater shopping centre in Kent.

The group has leased 12,700 sq ft on the Upper Thames Walk on a new 10-year lease.  The store is due to open in the autumn.

Simon Coble, Uniqlo’s UK CEO, said: “We are delighted with this acquisition, our brand is going from strength to strength in the UK and our products have captured shoppers’ imagination for quality fashion at affordable prices.”

James Ebel of Harper Dennis Hobbs, which advised Uniqlo, added:  “We are currently seeking more new stores in London and the South East for openings in early 2011.”

Guy Thomas, Head of Leasing at Lend Lease, said: “Uniqlo is a fantastic addition to Bluewater.  Their store completes a key asset management initiative in which a number of flagship units have been created in anticipation of the opening of the Bluewater Events Venue in late 2011.”

CBRE and DTZ represented Bluewater.
