Unison plans to intensify anti-PFI campaign

Unison has plans to intensify its campaign against PFI.

Dave Prentis, general secretary, warned the government that the trade union would cast its vote in any Labour leadership election on the basis of candidates’ policies on PFI and introducing competition and markets into public services.

He accused ministers of listening only to companies such as Balfour Beatty and Carillion, and to PFI hospitals that were raking in 60% returns. He also attacked the decision to scrap the Paddington, west London, £1.1bn PFI healthcare and research centre.
