Unite CFO Simon Bernstein steps down from board

Unite Group’s chief financial officer, Simon Bernstein, is leaving to be replaced by Mark Allan, the company’s corporate finance director.

Bernstein, who joined Unite in 2001, will step down from the board on Monday. He will serve as a special adviser to the board until the end of February.

During his two years at the student and key worker housing developer, Bernstein presided over the securitisation of Unite’s portfolio and a £57.5m share placing in 2002.

A Unite spokeswoman said that Bernstein felt that he had achieved all that he needed to achieve at the company.

Allan, who joined Unite from KPMG in 1999, will take over from Bernstein with immediate effect.

It has also been announced that Andrew Lee, Unite’s director of human resources, will join the board on 17 November.
