St Modwen Properties has appointed Unite Group’s Mark Allan as chief executive with effect from 1 December 2016.
The appointment comes after St Modwen’s current chief executive, Bill Oliver, announced in February that he would retire on 30 November 2016.
Allan joins St Modwen from the student accommodation operator Unite Group, where he has been chief executive since September 2006.
He joined Unite in 1999 from KMPG and has held a number of finance and commercial roles in the business, including chief financial officer from 2003 to 2006.
Allan will be replaced at Unite by Richard Smith, who is Unite’s existing managing director of operations, with effect from 1 July 2016.
