University College Birmingham has submitted a planning application to Birmingham City Council to develop a 1,205-bed purpose built student accommodation scheme.
Cambrian Wharf would comprise two blocks on Brindley Drive near the Jewellery Quarter: the 35-storey Canal Block providing 968 beds, and the 15-storey Courtyard Block providing 237 beds.
Students would be relocated from the Maltings and Cambrian Halls sites into Cambrian Wharf.
If the council grants permission, work on the redevelopment would start at the end of 2024.
