The University of Salford has been granted planning consent for a £38m arts building.
The building will be located in Chapman Square on the university’s campus and will feature a theatre and performance spaces. It will cater for students studying in areas such as music, design and performance. It forms part of a large-scale redevelopment of the university campus.
Work is expected to begin this autumn for completion in mid-2014.
Vice-chancellor Martin Hall said: “This building and our wider campus plan are part of the university’s strong commitment to the regeneration of central Salford, in the context of the city council’s vision for this area and the work done over many years by the Central Salford Urban Regeneration Company.”
Turley Associates advised the University of Salford on planning.
