University spending on new buildings up 43%

Spending by UK universities on new buildings has risen by 43% on the year in the last six months, according to Barbour ABI.

The value of contracts awarded is £1.5bn, and a further £2bn of contracts are expected by 2020.

Universities are concentrating on improving facilities as they look to attract foreign students.
