Lihou Island, the smallest inhabited of the Channel Islands, has had its price halved to £500,000. The 40-acre island was first put up for sale in July 1991 for £1m. Joint agents are Knight Frank & Rutley in London and Swoffers of Guernsey.
The newly built house at 58 Old Street, London SW3, was sold for almost £7m before it came on to the market. Tokyo Metropolitan Co built the property, which extends to almost 12,000 sq ft on one floor and includes a 120ft gallery running the length of one side. The buyer was Elliott Bernard of property company Chelsfield, who seems to know a good thing when he sees it. He was part of a property consortium which invested £12m in land near Heathrow in 1984 and later sold it for a reputed £365m three years later.
Bedford Estate Agency Group is set to launch a sales service specialising in bungalows in Norfolk and Suffolk. Country Choice will aim to provide a total service allowing customers to visit several properties on a day trip and boasts that it will even include lunch. Bungalows in the portfolio will range from £60,000 to £250,000.
Ruddy Developments has sold out the first phase of 35 homes at its Kingsfield development in Witney, Oxfordshire, at prices of up to £84,950. Work has started on the second phase which will comprise two, three- bedroom semi-detached houses and 10 four-bedroom houses.
