Upland completes 18-acre Edinburgh buy

Upland Developments has completed the purchase of an 18.45-acre site at Newbridge outside Edinburgh, and has applied for planning consent to build 257,000 sq ft of warehousing and distribution space.

Upland purchased the Clifton Hall site from Brewster Brothers for around £4m, and is planning to develop the site on a speculative basis.

“We are hoping to attract trade counter business,” explained Charlie Barbour of Upland.

The developer hopes to get on site later this year to start work on the 42,000 sq ft first phase of the project, which will probably be split into eight-or-nine units, depending on occupier demand.

Although the development is principally aimed at small-scale occupiers, Barbour says that single units of up to 55,000 sq ft will be available if there is occupier demand.

Ryden and Jones Lang LaSalle are joint agents for the scheme.

Upland is also finalising the last letting on its recently completed 40,000 sq ft Stadium Trading Park in Inverness.

The Aviemore-based developer has a property portfolio worth around £55m, covering retail, leisure, industrial and offices.
