Urban & Civic to proceed with Cambridgeshire resi plan

Urban & Civic’s plans to build up to 2,800 new homes at its Wintringham Park site in Cambridgeshire have been approved by Huntingdonshire District Council.

Plans for the site, part of the St Neots Eastern Expansion Urban Design Framework in Huntingdon, include two new primary schools, health facilities and 678,126 sq ft of new business space.

The site was previously subject to a planning application in 2013, which was refused prior to Urban & Civic taking a 33% interest in the project, alongside Nuffield Trust, for £13.3m in April last year, representing a cost of £14,285 per residential plot.

Terms have been agreed for the first parcel sale under Urban & Civic’s bespoke Master Developer licence model and the scheme is expecting the first residents to move in by November 2019.

Nigel Hugill, chief executive of Urban & Civic, said: “First plot sales will be under the now-established Urban & Civic licence model and are well advanced. We are working towards initial occupations within two years of application submission.”
