Urban Splash signs Travelodge for Fort Dunlop

Urban Splash is poised to sign Travelodge as its first tenant at the £50m Fort Dunlop mixed-use development in Birmingham.

Travelodge, which is due to sign next week, is planning a hotel with up to 100-bedrooms. The deal includes a turnover-based 25-year lease.

Nathan Cornish, development manager at Urban Splash, said: “We are in detailed discussions with an operator for the hotel at Fort Dunlop.

“We hope to sign an agreement soon.”

Plans for the 350,000 sq ft (32,515 sq m) scheme were recently revised by architect Shed KM to include a hotel featuring a 50m electric blue ‘spine’ with round portico windows.

The listed building next to the M6 has lain vacant for 20-years.

It will also include 310,000 sq ft (28,800 sq m) of offices, as well as shops, flexible workspace, a leisure centre and car parking.

CB Richard Ellis is advising Urban Splash on the hotel deal.
