Urban Splash unveils latest plans for Liverpool Tribeca

Tribeca, Liverpool

Developer Urban Splash has unveiled new details of its mixed-use development on Great George Street in Liverpool city centre, which it has named Tribeca.

The five-acre scheme contains 706 residential units alongside 80,000 sq ft of office and retail space, a hotel, crèche and two acres of public open space.

The development, which Urban Splash claims will be Liverpool’s largest city centre residential scheme to date, will be designed by four different architects in a series of buildings.

The architects are Austrian firm Querkraft, Liverpool-based Shedkm and Riches Hawley Mikhail and Alison Brooks Architects, both of which are based in London.

Simon Humphreys, director of development at Urban Splash, said: “We want to bring families into the city as well as new businesses and shops, and we hope the new public spaces we create will be enjoyed by everyone.”

The name Tribeca is derived from the phrase “Triangle Below Canal Street” and was coined for a fashionable district of downtown Manhattan.

Work on the scheme is expected to begin in the spring and is due to complete in 2016.
