Urbo scales down £175m Sheffield mixed-use scheme

Revised Plans for West Bar, Sheffield

Urbo has submitted new scaled-down plans for a £175m office-led scheme at West Bar Square in Sheffield, Yorkshire.

More than half of the 1.4m sq ft development will be office space. The plan also includes around 300 flats, a four-star hotel and restaurants and shops across 10 buildings.

The plans are a scaled-down version of Castlemore  Securities’ former 1.8m sq ft scheme, which was abandoned in 2009 after the developer went into administration.

Urbo said that reducing the size of three of the development’s towers from the previously planned 27 and 14 storeys would create a “more vibrant and deliverable project”.

The company developed the new plan alongside Sheffield City Council and 5plus Architects.

BNP Paribas Real Estate and Knight Frank are letting agents for the scheme.
