US chicken shop hatches plan for 15 new UK sites

US chicken chain Wingstop has set its sights on 15 new locations in the UK, in what it hopes will be its “biggest-ever year of growth”.

Lemon Pepper Holdings, the master franchisee of Wingstop UK, will open nine new locations this year with a further six under negotiation.

Wingstop UK will open sites in Hounslow, Clapham High Street, Watford, Croydon Valley Retail Park, Wood Green, Lakeside Shopping Centre, Westfield Stratford City and Merry Hill, as well as its second site in Leeds.

The openings are expected to create up to 750 new jobs, on top of the 1,600 already employed across its 39 sites since its UK launch in 2018.

The news comes as Lemon Pepper Holdings prepares to open its biggest site to date at Stratford City Westfield, a 5,000 sq ft site hosting over 160 covers on the first floor.

Tom Grogan, co-founder of Lemon Pepper Holdings, said: “2024 is going to be our biggest ever year of growth.

“In just five short years as a business, we have certainly made our mark, offering the best-tasting wings in the business alongside an authentic and customised dining experience. There is huge momentum, and we are just getting started.”
