Jones Lang Wootton has taken advantage of its US tie-up with LaSalle to scoop two new instructions for Borders Books and coffee retailer Starbucks.
Both retailers want a foothold in the UK from which to launch into Europe. Gourmet coffee retailer Starbucks, which recently bought Seattle Coffee Company, wants to open 400 stores in the UK. The company then plans an assault on the European market.
Borders wants stores of between 2,500 sq m (27,000 sq ft ) and 4,000 sq m (43,000 sq ft) in the UK. JLW will acquire the UK sites and draw up a list of European cities for the next phase of the expansion.
Borders recently opened its third UK store in Glasgow on Buchanan Street.
