US diner Denny’s to open first UK restaurant

American diner Denny’s is to open its first restaurant in the UK at Hammerson’s Parc Tawe in Swansea.

It will take a 4,000 sq ft unit at the 200,000 sq ft retail and leisure park, which is currently undergoing a £15m redevelopment, and is due to open at the end of the year.

Denny’s was founded in 1953 and is one of the world’s largest full-service family dining chains with more than 1,700 restaurants across the world.

It is famous for its pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, milkshakes and burgers.

Andrew Berger North, UK director of retail parks at Hammerson, said: “The signing of such an exciting and highly anticipated brand is testament to Parc Tawe’s appeal and our plans to create a leading, contemporary and attractive retail destination for Swansea.”
