US firm pumps £45m into Northamptonshire and plans to close Scottish plant

P>American engine maker Cummins Engine is to invest £45m in its plant at Daventry in Northamptonshire, West Midlands. The manufacturer aims to make the plan the world-wide centre for its business.

However at the end of the year the firm will close its plant at Shotts in Lanarkshire, Scotland. Work will be transferred to its Darlington factory in Durham, Co Durham.
