US homebuilders confidence falls

Confidence among US homebuilders, as depicted by the National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo sentiment index, fell to 55 in February, the lowest reading for four months and down from 57 in January.

Tom Woods, chairman of the NAHB, said however that the downturn was “largely attributable to the unusually high snow levels across most of the nation,” and described sentiment as “fairly solid.”

The reading of single-family home sales fell to 61 from 62, while prospective buyer traffic fell to 39 from 44. The six-month sales outlook remained at 60.
