Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) has been granted outline consent by Edinburgh council for a 30,000 sq ft (2,788 sq m) expansion of its Gyle shopping centre.
The extension will include a 20,000 sq ft (1,858 sq m) store on two floors for fashion retailer Next, which it plans to open in October 2004.
It will bring the centre’s total size to 360,000 sq ft (33,444 sq m).
USS’s Graham Burnett said: “We are delighted that the planning application has been successful and we have the green light for our plans to further improve and enhance Gyle’s exciting offer.”
Other tenants at the scheme include Marks & Spencer, Gap, Virgin and River Island.
DTZ, Drivers Jonas and Jones Lang LaSalle advised USS.
