Vail Williams merges with regional rival

Vail Williams has merged with its South Coast competitor Hughes Ellard.

Four of the 25-strong Hughes Ellard business – Gary Jeffries, Carl Walker, Russell Mogridge and Nik Cox – will become equity partners at Vail Williams.

All other members of the Hughes Ellard team will take up equivalent roles in Vail Williams’ Southampton or Portsmouth offices.

The move will result in a combined team of more than 50 based in the Solent region. In total, the Vail Williams national team will now number more than 160 across eight offices.

Hughes Ellard brings an additional £3m in turnover to Vail Williams and is aiming to expand its turnover to £17m in the next year.

In 2016 Vail Williams bought business rates specialist Bisset Moffatt Hill and last year it acquired the general rating division of Ruddle Merz.

Matthew Samuel-Camps, managing partner, said: “By bringing together Vail Williams and Hughes Ellard, we have created a bigger, stronger, more resilient team with a collaborative culture that will continue to deliver a comprehensive service, across all areas of property consultancy.

“Our shared values, focus on client service, investment in staff development, dedication to creating a positive working environment and commitment to CSR, mean both companies are already aligned for the transition into one regional property powerhouse.”
