Valerie’s Brasserie to grace Union Square

The first UK Valerie’s Brasserie is to open at Hammerson’s Union Square in Aberdeen.

The new concept, from the owners of the Patisserie Valerie group, has been created to take advantage of the evening economy and restaurant offer at Union Square.

The 2,190 sq ft restaurant will be located in the centre’s main square.

The menu and restaurant styling at Valerie’s Brasserie will take the best of two brands in the group: Patisserie Valerie, which has 81 cafés across the UK, and Baker & Spice, the boutique London bakery.

In the first half of 2013, Union Square’s catering sales saw an uplift of 8%, with 20% of shoppers choosing to dine at the shopping centre.

Hammerson leasing executive Chris Daly said: “This has been a great opportunity to work with an established operator to develop a new concept and at the same time build on Patisserie Valerie’s strong identity and passion for exceptional food. We have discerning customers who enjoy eating out, so we’re confident that Valerie’s Brasserie will be a successful new addition to Union Square.”

Bruce Gillingham Pollard acted on behalf of Hammerson.
