Valuers agree e-mail friendly standard formats

The Valuation Office Agency (VOA) and ratings professionals are working together to enable agents to serve batches of appeals by e-mail.

Since the beginning of this month, the VOA has provided facilities for ratepayers to lodge appeals at its web site.

But batches of appeals are more complex to lodge, requiring the co-operation of professional rating agents if it is to proceed smoothly.

The RICS, the Institute of Rating Revenue and Valuers and the Rating Surveyors Association will develop standard formats to ensure that batches of appeals can be served electronically without falling foul of regulations created before the introduction of new technology.

More details can be found on the VOA website at www.voa.gov.uk.
