Vast majority of SNP’s 50,000 affordable homes pledge would be new-build

The SNP seems to be backtracking on an election pledge to build 50,000 new affordable homes.

Housing minister Kevin Stewart said it had a five-year commitment to deliver at least 50,000 affordable homes, but qualified this by adding that the vast majority would be new-build.

Stewart said it would also work to bring empty homes back into use, and would support the acquisition of new social housing stock.
