Planners in Edinburgh have approved the first phase of Vastint Hospitality’s redevelopment of the former Fountain Brewery.
Vastint bought the site – which has sat vacant since the closure of the brewery in 2004 – in 2016, and is proposing a new mixed-use neighbourhood, New Edinburgh.
Phase one will include 56,370 sq ft of offices, a 262-bedroom Moxy hotel and ground-floor commercial units.
Residential plans for later phases are currently being drawn up, with a planning application expected later in the year.
Vastint Hospitality is part of Vastint, which was previously the development arm of Ikea. It has since been split out as a separate company, though it remains part of the Interogo Foundation.
