Vax polishes shed plans

Vax Stonebridge Cross 570p

Vacuum manufacturer Vax has unveiled plans for a major logistics site in Worcestershire which will see the firm centralise its warehouse facilities.

The 231,000 sq ft prelet will fill the last remaining plot at the 77-acre Stonebridge Cross business park in Droitwich. It will be built by Birmingham developer Stoford in partnership with landowner AXA REIM.

The scheme, which will also comprise a two-storey call centre, is the largest design-and-build project in Worcestershire for the past five years. It will house Vax’s design, engineering, customer support, warehousing and logistics teams.

Vax has signed a 15-year lease on the building at an undisclosed rent. The scheme won planning consent in March.

Charles D’Auncey, director at Harris Lamb, which is overseeing the project for Vax, said: “Identifying a suitable site was a long process.

“Vax has an established history in the area, having maintained a strong base in Droitwich ever since it was founded in 1977. An extensive new state-of-the-art warehouse and office facility was seen as a critical part of the company’s expansion, and Vax was determined to retain its presence in the region.”

The building will be completed by autumn 2014.
