VCI unveils Vauxhall Cross scheme

Further details of VCI Property Holdings’ plan for Vauxhall Cross have emerged, following the recent submission of an environmental impact assessment application.

A planning application is expected before the end of the year from the investment group, backed by one of Saudia Arabia’s wealthiest families.

The key island site within Vauxhall will see the removal of both the bus station and gyratory. The architect is Zaha Hadid Architects.

Towers of 53 and 42 storeys are proposed, with 260 new flats and 220,000 sq ft of offices. A new 500-plus room flagship Hilton hotel is proposed along with 7,000 sq ft of ground floor retail.

The scheme also features a public square, and is expected to create about 2,000 jobs.
