Student housing developer Urbanest has agreed a deal with Hackney-based vegan restaurant Temple of Seitan to open its second London site at its Camden scheme, N1.
The restaurant has agreed a 15-year lease on 1,000 sq ft at the Camley Street site, near St Pancras, which is home to 313 students from University College London, SOAS and Regent’s University.
Rents are in the region of £40 per sq ft.
Temple of Seitan, which uses protein-like meat substitutes to serve meals such as hot wings, burgers and popcorn ‘chicken’ bites, is actively looking for further opportunities in London.
In the last decade, the number of vegans in the UK has risen by 360% and this number is expected to increase as clean living and environmental concerns become more prevalent issues.
Mark Morgan, chief executive of Urbanest, said: “Student tastes continue to evolve and our ambition is to try and be ahead of the curve, which is why we’re delighted to welcome an exciting new concept such asTemple of Seitan to our St. Pancras site”
Pat O’Shea, co-founder of Temple of Seitan, said: “The success of our first restaurant in Hackney exceeded all expectations and we are incredibly excited to be opening another branch in Camden.”
Colliers International acted for Urbanest.
