Venture gives £1.8bn boost to regional science hubs

Legal & General is backing a scheme to create a £1.8bn network of science and technology centres in regional cities.

The investment group has formed a joint venture with Bruntwood, the property company behind Manchester Science Partnerships, that will own and manage Britain’s largest portfolio of science and technology parks.

The sites, in the north and the Midlands, will provide offices and laboratories to more than 500 businesses in the life science and digital technology sectors.
