Vestas goes to court today to seek a possession order allowing it to evict staff who have barricaded themselves in the Newport, Isle of Wight, turbine plant.
The workers have occupied the factory in protest at its imminent closure. Eighteen workers have been sacked. Police are bracing themselves for the possible arrival of thousands of environmental activists in support of the sit-in.
The Department of Energy offered the Danish company £6m this week to support a new wind turbine research centre in Newport.
