Vincent Tchenguiz pays £300m for Challenger portfolio

Vincent Tchenguiz’s Consensus Business Group has paid £300m for the UK portfolio of Challenger Financial Services Group, the Australian company backed by media baron Kerry Packer.

The portfolio comprises six buildings comprising 700,000 sq ft of offices in the City and the Thames Valley.

Among the six are two City buildings: Senator House, EC4, which is the home to law firm Eversheds, and Minster Court, EC3, which is co-owned with Prudential.

The other buildings are in the Thames Valley, comprising three buildings at Hayes Park and the World Business Centre, Heathrow.

Challenger, which had been active in the South East since it entered the UK market in 2001, put its portfolio on the market in May.

The deal follows acquisitions by Consensus of 60 London Wall, EC2, and 1 America Square, EC3, on behalf of the government of Qatar.

Gerald Eve advised Consensus; Knight Frank advised Challenger.
