Vinopolis plans uncorked

Dirty-Building-570pxMeyer Bergman and developer Sherwood Thames Ventures have unveiled plans for their £300m retail-led scheme on the site of Vinopolis, SE1.

The 228,000 sq ft site comprises 1 Bank End and Thames House and will be developed into a new shopping arcade by restoring the existing railway arches.

Plans include around 75,000 sq ft of offices, 10,000 sq ft of leisure and 143,000 sq ft of shops. It aims to host an eclectic mix of local and boutique brands, as well as a cinema and local restaurants.

The partners are aiming to submit plans to Southwark council by the end of July. The duo bought the long-leasehold of the site in February, and have been working with freeholder Network Rail on the initial proposals. If planning goes ahead, works would begin by spring 2016, when Vinopolis vacates the site.
