Virgin Active is on the hunt for sites in just two cities in the UK – Bristol and Guildford.
The group opened eight new clubs during the year taking its estate to 187 but this figure includes sites in Italy, Spain, Portugal and South Africa. Half of the group’s revenues come from Britain, where it has 71 clubs after its takeover of Holmes Place in 2007.
Virgin Active reported 2009 revenues up 15% to £391m. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization were up 18% to £101.1m.
