Virgin Cinemas has confirmed that it will open the largest cinema in the UK – with 20 screens and seating for 5,000 people – at Gregory Properties’ proposed £20m Midpoint Leisure Park in Dick Lane, Leeds.
The 8,269 sq m (89,000 sq ft) “Megaplex” will include innovations such as a Movie Store, a cafe bar, as well as an “upper class” lounge and auditorium called The Premiere Screen. The complex is expected to open early in 1998.
Virgin plans to build up to 20 multiplexes over the next three years.
