Virgin signs for Blythe Valley as Vodafone negotiates terms

Virgin Active is to open its latest new-generation health club in the West Midlands, at Blythe Valley Park in Solihull.

The 5,110 sq m (55,000 sq ft) Life Centre scheme will cost £5m and will make Virgin the first and only leisure operator on the park. It will be Virgin’s eighth new-generation club, following schemes in Preston, Leeds, Derby, Islington, Northampton, Sheffield and Manchester. The concept includes a relaxation area with a private library and restaurant, a heated outdoor swimming pool and beauty treatments.

Richard Meering of Holley Blake, joint letting agent for Blythe Valley with FPDSavills and Donaldsons, said: “It’s always been the intention to incorporate a leisure facility on the park. Virgin will open in spring 2001.”

A speculative 3,716 sq m (40,000 sq ft) office building at the Park is under offer to Vodafone. Rents achieved so far on the park have been around £205 per sq m (£19 per sq ft). The developers are ProLogis Developments and British Land.
