Virgin Trains has threatened to sue Railtrack for £10m-a-year damages unless the rail infrastructure company improves its performance in upgrading the main west coast rail line within the next month.
Railtrack has produced a 30-point plan to improve working practices at construction sites on the £5.8bn upgrade.
Key sites are on approaches to London Euston, Proof House Junction, outside Birmingham, and Willesden Junction, west London.
