Visitor centre mooted for Dunvegan Castle

A £4m visitor centre could be established at Dunvegan Castle, on the Isle of Skye, under a deal to save the property from falling into worse disrepair.

A consortium has put forward a £30m bid for National Lottery funding for John MacLeod of MacLeod, the 29th chief of his clan, to repair the ancestral home.

A deal could lead to the Black Cullin mountains, which MacLeod also owns, falling into community ownership
