Vita plans new neighbourhood at Birmingham’s Goods Station

Vita Group has revealed its proposals for Birmingham’s Goods Station.

The urban regeneration specialist has lodged detailed plans to turn the former Axis Square site, which has been vacant for years, into a new neighbourhood.

The plans, designed by architects SimpsonHaugh, feature the delivery of three residential buildings alongside a 17,000 sq ft public food hall.

If approved, the site is expected to create 485 jobs in the West Midlands and will contribute £245m to the local economy. Once complete, the Goods Station is predicted to add £7.8m to Birmingham’s economy each year.

Vita will look to break ground in the Autumn 2025.

Jon Weston, development director at Vita, said: “The Goods Station has the opportunity to be a catalyst for change in the city, creating new homes and jobs, whilst adding to the cultural and hospitality sector, creating a new neighbourhood with social and economic benefits.”
