Vita sheds light on PBSA tower at Manchester’s First Street

Urban regeneration firm Vita Group has revealed plans for student homes that will form part of the First Street masterplan in Manchester.

The next phase of development comprises a purpose-built student accommodation tower with 750 studios to be operated under the developer’s Vita Student brand.

The new homes will be supported by social and study spaces, a gym and an on-site operations team.

Vita Student’s first development at First Street opened in 2014. This latest proposal is expected to help alleviate the pressures on local housing stock and provide more access to studios for students looking for homes in the city centre.

The developer will be hosting a consultation on 23 July prior to submitting a planning application to the Manchester City Council.

Max Bielby, chief operating officer at Vita Group, said: “We’re expanding our Vita Student offering at First Street and look forward to meeting local residents and the wider city to talk through our proposal.

“We understand the growing demand for student accommodation in this area of the city and the appeal it has to both students at the University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University.”
