Vodafone has signed a 14-year lease for 23,000 sq ft at prime Birmingham office Colmore Plaza.
The property is owned by global alternative asset manager Carlyle Group, which bought the 300,000 sq ft building in 2006 for £150m.
Vodafone will join existing tenants including Marsh, Investec Wealth and Investment, Aecom, Orega, Amey, Grant Thornton and Robert Half at the 14-storey building.
Colmore Plaza will house part of Vodafone’s administrative operation and around 180 staff will move to the premises.
The rent was undisclosed, but prime office rents in Birmingham are currently around £28.50 per sq ft and are projected to hit £30 per sq ft by the end of 2015, according to Savills.
A full fit-out of the space is under way and will be completed in time for Vodafone to move in during September.
Carlyle Group signed Allianz for 15,000 sq ft on a 15-year lease in December. The health insurer was consolidating commercial and engineering staff from two Birmingham offices.
Colliers International advised Vodafone; GVA acted for Carlyle Group.
