Vodafone has signed for a second office in Newbury, Berkshire, marking the largest letting in the area for seven years.
The telecoms giant has agreed a seven-year lease with Moorfield Group for the 47,000 sq ft Emerald House on Newbury Business Park. It will pay £470,000 pa.
The deal comes two years after Vodafone exited the property, consolidating staff into its 550,000 sq ft Vodaphone House on the Connection campus, also in Berkshire. However, it now needs the space to accommodate staff it acquired following its purchase of Cable & Wireless Worldwide in July 2012.
“This a great deal for Newbury, and the largest we have seen since Vodafone first signed for Vodafone House seven years ago. The new office will generate more lettings in the area, with the company acting as a magnet for satellite businesses needing to be near it,” said one local agent.
Deal Varney acted for Moorfield; Colliers International advised Vodafone.
