Wandsworth approves £1bn Winstanley regen

Wandsworth Council has approved plans for 2,550 homes at the £1bn Winstanley & York Road Estate regeneration scheme at Clapham Junction, SW18.

The plans from jv partners Wandsworth Council and Taylor Wimpey include 35% affordable homes (37.5% by habitable room). This includes reprovision of the 530 council homes. It has been masterplanned by HTA Design.

A planning application from HTA Design was submitted in January, after Wandsworth Council selected Taylor Wimpey as the preferred bidder two years earlier.

The estate regeneration has attracted controversy, with plans for a high density build and opting to forgo Mayoral grant funding, which comes with the requirement for a community ballot.

The application will now be referred to the Mayor of London for his final decision, due within the next 14 days.
