JLL has appointed Philip Ward chief executive of its EMEA hotels and hospitality group.
Ward joined JLL from investment bank Brookfield Financial, where he founded the company’s European branch and was managing director.
He has been an investment banking advisor for the hotels and hospitality sectors for 25 years.
Before joining Brookfield, Ward held positions as managing director of Bear Stearns International and Rothschild Group in London and Paris.
The appointment comes as the hotel sector faces greater competition from alternatives such as Airbnb.
Mark Wynne-Smith, global chief of JLL’s hotels and hospitality group, said: “Philip’s appointment to lead JLL’s hotel and hospitality business in EMEA is a response to the changing needs of our clients and the market and economic environment.”
