Urban design standards must be raised if the government’s plans for the regeneration of the Thames Gateway are to succeed, warns the environment group WWF.
Its warning comes as a cabinet committee, chaired by Tony Blair, finalises proposals for the area.
There are plans to build as many as 200,000 new homes on the former industrial land to the east of London over the next 20 years.
