The UK is finally getting a national property show. MIPIM UK will take place at London Olympia on 15, 16 and 17 October 2014.
More than 300 senior industry figures gathered at Claridge’s in London on Thursday night for the launch, to hear deputy London mayor Sir Edward Lister and former lord mayor Sir Michael Bear lend their support.
More than 3,000 delegates are expected to attend next year’s show, which will focus on leasing and investment markets in the office, retail, industrial, residential, healthcare and sports property sectors.
MIPIM director Filippo Rean said he expected the event to attract large, national property firms as well as regional UK players. And with France, through SIMI, and Germany, with EXPO Real, already staging domestically-focused events, he insisted the event would complement MIPIM in Cannes.
“The UK is often described as the real estate capital of the world. Despite its size and liquidity and being very open it still lacks a national marketplace for the property sector. It’s against this backdrop that a dedicated, national real estate event such as MIPIM UK has been conceived.”
The conference programme will comprise nine major half-day “summits” covering retail, office, industrial, residential, logistics, tech, sustainability, finance and transport.
Estates Gazette is supporting the event and will be producing daily magazines from the show.
