The Department of Health (DoH) is one of seven departments the Better Regulation Taskforce has criticised over costs of regulation to business.
The DoH had to backtrack on new care-home regulations after it emerged many existing homes would have to close.
The Better Regulation Taskforce will today report officials to the national Audit Office, claiming they are producing “poor quality” assessments of the burden of red tape.
