Watford sets out its stall for second market site

Watford council is working up plans to create a second market within the Hertfordshire town to make sure that all traders displaced from Capital Shopping Centres’ 400,000 sq ft redevelopment of Charter Place are housed.

The council has drawn up indicative plans (pictured) for the market, which it hopes to develop next to the former TJ Hughes store just off the High Street.

The second market will provide 35-plus stalls and is anticipated to be up and running by summer 2013.

CSC is expected to submit its plans for Charter Place next spring.
