Watkin Jones has submitted plans for the redevelopment of a brownfield site in Birmingham’s city centre.
The BTR developer wants to deliver a 551-home scheme across six blocks at the northern end of Sherlock Street in Birmingham’s Rea Valley urban quarter.
The scheme, designed by Glenn Howells Architects, is within walking distance of the Bullring shopping centre and the new HS2 terminal.
Alongside the one, two and three-bedroom homes being delivered, the project will also feature a wellbeing centre, residents’ lounges, roof garden, landscaped courtyard and around 16,000 sq ft of flexible workspace.
Watkin Jones chief investment officer Alex Pease said: “Sherlock Street is our largest build-to-rent scheme to date. It is also one of our most exciting. We have a long history of investing in Birmingham and are committed to providing not only a brilliant living experience for a wide range of tenants but a flagship development that contributes to the city’s economic and social development.”
Turley advised on planning.
