Mark Watkins has quit his role at St Modwen to join Richardsons Capital as a development director.

Watkins has spent the past seven years at regeneration specialist St Modwen, as a senior development surveyor in its Birmingham head office.

He worked on retail projects including the St Matthews Quarter in Walsall.

Prior to that, Watkins led the JLL retail leasing team in London, after previously working for Boots Properties.

Working alongside Mark Morgan, head of property at Richardsons, Watkins will help source new development opportunities in the UK for the Oldbury- and London-based private property company.

Watkins starts his new role on 1 September.

The news follows Richardsons landing its first PFI deal last week, as joint equity partner with Carillion for the 670-bed Midlands Metropolitan hospital – a public private partnership.

The hospital will be built on a former industrial site in Smethwick. The capital cost for the project is £297m.

Work will start on site in early 2016, with completion due in late 2018.
