Bruntwood has let 96,000 sq ft at The Plaza in Liverpool city centre to solicitor Weightmans.
It is understood the law firm will pay about £14 per sq ft on a 15-year lease at the building, which is the refurbished former headquarters of retailer Littlewoods.
The long-awaited deal is Liverpool’s largest office letting this year, and the city’s largest private-sector letting for six years.
Weightmans had a long-standing requirement for 70,000 sq ft in Liverpool, but increased the amount of space it needed after its recent merger with local law firm Mace & Jones.
The firm will vacate its current offices within Green Properties’ India Buildings on Water Street in 2012.
David Lewis, head of Weightmans’ Liverpool office, said: “This move will be the beginning of a new chapter for the Liverpool office – reflecting our confidence in the business and our determination to provide an excellent working environment for our people and flagship headquarters from where we can welcome and service clients.”
Matthews & Goodman acted for Weightmans; CB Richard Ellis and DTZ acted for Bruntwood.
