Wellworth to spend £18m on increasing supermarket space

Wellworth is to spend about £18m to add about 6,968 sq m (75,000 sq ft) to existing capacity of 92,900 sq m (1m sq ft). The Northern Ireland and Irish supermarket company would not comment on speculation that its parent Fitzwilton was in talks with Safeway over a local joint venture. But it is believed that Fitzwilton favours a joint venture arrangement under which Safeway would pay £80m for 50% of the Wellworth chain.
